McAuley and Bruce Should Be OK - Ipswich Town News

Town are hopeful that both Gareth McAuley and Alex Bruce will be fit enough to face Swansea at Portman Road on Saturday. The duo picked up hamstring and groin niggles respectively while away with their international squads.

Physio Matt Byard told the club site: "Alex trained today and is expected to train again on Friday and it looks as though he will be okay for the weekend.

"Gareth had some stiffness in his back which has left him with a sore hamstring and he was substituted for Northern Ireland in the second half against San Marino, mainly as a precaution really.

"We have had a look at him. He had some rest today anyway after being away and we will have another check over in the morning, but hopefully he should be able to train fully and be ready for the weekend. We will know more after training on Friday."

Meanwhile, it has emerged that Canadian international midfielder Jaime Peters suffered a medial ligament injury during last week's reserve game with Crystal Palace. The 21-year-old came off at half-time during the 4-1 defeat to the Eagles and remains on the sidelines.
