Town in Walters Talks - Ipswich Town News

Boss Jim Magilton has revealed that the Blues are in talks with striker or midfielder Jon Walters regarding a longer term deal at Portman Road. Walters, 25, only signed a contract until June 2011 in January.

Magilton said: "Jonathan has been a big success since I brought him to the club and always gives 100 per cent and is always good value for money.

"He is the type of player I want here on a long-term basis and hopefully these discussions can bear fruit and that we can agree for him to be under contract longer than 2011.”

In the summer Stoke and an unnamed Premier League club made enquiries regarding the former Chester man but no bid, while Wigan have continued to monitor the player's progress this season.

Talks are also ongoing with Alex Bruce regarding a new deal, although Magilton recently admitted that if terms couldn't be agreed before January the defender, who's current contract is up in the summer, could leave Portman Road.
