Jim Denies Link With Celtic's O'Dea - Ipswich Town News

Boss Jim Magilton has denied a report which claimed the Blues had made an approach for Celtic defender Darren O'Dea. The Town manager has also revealed that the club will be making an announcement regarding Alex Bruce's future next week.

Magilton says there is nothing in morning reports of a January move for centre-half O'Dea: ”He's a good player and he's played well at U21 level, but we haven't made an approach for Darren.”

The Blues boss says the club have held talks with Alex Bruce's agent regarding the defender signing a new deal but is uncertain as to whether the Irishman will put pen to paper: "We've spoken to him and we'll probably make a statement next week. It's ongoing, Alex is very much still part of our plans, but like all things these things take time.”

Bruce is out of contract next summer and Magilton recently intimated that the Blues might look to sell the Republic of Ireland international in January if new terms can't be agreed.
