Boss Jim Magilton was delighted with his side's performance in their 3-1 victory over Plymouth at Home Park. Owen Garvan scored twice and Kevin Lisbie the third, prior to a late consolation from Craig Cathcart.
Magilton said: "I thought we started very well and continued from where we left off on Tuesday night.
"We gave a very professional performance on Tuesday night and I was very confident that we could come here and continue it - and we did. I thought we moved the ball very well at times and controlled possession.
"Garvan has scored two great goals, with two great strikes. It's important that your midfield players score as it goes some way to taking the pressure off your front two.
"I was delighted that Kevin Lisbie scored. He worked really hard and he will gain in confidence from that display. He played very well alongside Jon Walters.
"Again we shoot ourselves in the foot when we get a bit sloppy and for all our play we allowed Plymouth the best chance in the first half.
"Plymouth is a tough place to come and they made it tough for us today, but I thought it was a terrific performance from the whole team.â€Â
Magilton felt referee Pat Miller had a disappointing game and had no need to issue 10 cautions and David Norris's red card: "I thought it was a poor performance by the referee.
"There wasn't a bad tackle in the game but he was dishing out cards all over the place and put himself under pressure.
"It always looked like someone would end up with a red card but it was a nothing incident right at the end of the game and now we miss an important player for one game."
Norris himself was similarly unimpressed with the official's performance: "I'm gutted. I was shielding the ball in the corner and if anything I thought the freekick was mine.
"There was nothing in it but as the whistle blew, I toe-poked the ball away. I thought the referee was overzealous but he gave it and now I will miss the Charlton game.
"I've had a run of games going lately, so it's really disappointing to miss out, but it was a brilliant away performance. We beat them at their own game; we got in their faces and forced them into mistakes and when we had the ball, we kept it really well."
Plymouth boss Paul Sturrock was forced to make a change to his side for the first time in seven matches due to Mat Doumbe's injury but now plans further switches for Tuesday's game against Sheffield Wednesday: "I have had food for thought now about how to change this team to put a freshness in it before Tuesday.
"At the same time I want to remind all the players how we achieved what we achieved before today.
"Five wins, a draw and two defeats in eight games is not bad. I would take that for the next eight games but now it is probably time for a change.
"In hindsight, the old adage about a bridge too far comes to mind, but it is very easy after the event to surmise these kind of things. But take nothing away from Ipswich, they were the better team and deserved their result.
"If Paul Gallagher's shot goes in it could have put a completely different complexion on it but it doesn't and they go down the other end and score a goal.
"I did not think there were 10 bookings in a game like that, but we will not in any form try to use the referee as any excuse because we were beaten by the better side on the day."
