Falkirk Try to Tie Kerr Down - Ipswich Town News

If George Burley wants to bring Mark Kerr to Portman Road he is going to have to pay them decent money. That is the message that Falkirk manager Alex Totten is sending out to George Burley and any other managers eyeing up the 19-year-old Scot.

Kerr has had trials with Town and Leeds this season and both seemed to be interested enough to want to take him back for a second look. However, Falkirk are seeking to put him on a long contract to strengthen their bargaining position.

Alex Totten: "Mark is contracted to Falkirk until June 2002 and even if he was out of contract, he couldn't leave here for free because of his age. We are actually trying to get him tied up on a longer deal and we've spoken to the boy and his dad about it. We'll wait and see what happens."

James Scowcroft has started light training despite still feeling the effects of tendinitis in the pelvic area. The striker has been out of action for the last few weeks and had feared that his season may be over.

Scowcroft said: "I started doing a bit of running on Tuesday and yesterday. It’s not too bad, but there’s still soreness. I’m going to step it up in a make or break effort to get back and help the team, but if it’s no good then I’ll just have to write off the season and look forward to the next one."
