Volz: I'm Now a True Tractor Boy - Ipswich Town News

On-loan full-back Moritz Volz says he is finally a true Tractor Boy after having his first drive in a tractor. The Fulham man is with the Blues for the season.

Volz wrote on his website: "It was great fun to be at the wheel and I suppose that makes me a bona fide Tractor Boy now. Although I didn't do a very good job of cutting the grass so I'm not sure the hotel will be letting me out on it again.”

The former Arsenal trainee took the opportunity to swap his famous fold-up bike for the tractor for an interview with Virgin Media.

Volz says he is surprised that former team-mate Gareth Ainsworth has been given the job as caretaker-manager of Town's Saturday opponents QPR: "The guy in charge now, Gareth Ainsworth, I used to play with when I was on loan at Wimbledon a few years back and at that time I could never have imagined he'd be a manager.

"We used to call him "The Wild Thing”! I'm sure it'll be another tough game, but both of these matches [Charlton and QPR] give us the opportunity to get back in contention for a promotion place which is where we want to be.”
