Hermann Linked With Town Return - Ipswich Town News

Former Blue Hermann Hreidarsson is set to leave Portsmouth with Town, Charlton and West Brom all interested, according to a tabloid report this morning. Hreidarsson left the Blues in March 2003 during the club's time in administration.

The Icelander, 34, has fallen down the pecking order at Fratton Park, having made only one start and three sub appearances in the Premier League this season.

Hreidarsson also previously played for Charlton, while West Brom were keen on his signature during the summer of 2002 and current Baggies boss Tony Mowbray will know him well from his time as a coach with the Blues.

As during his time at Town, Hreidarsson has largely played at left-back while with Pompey, but can also operate at centre-half. The Blues are certainly in the market for another central defender, while full-back cover also looks like an area of the squad which requires strengthening.

Meanwhile, on loan Town defender Dan Harding picked up a hamstring injury during Southend's 3-3 draw with Colchester at the weekend. Shrimpers boss Steve Tilson doesn't expect him to be out of the side for long: "Dan can't play in the FA Cup on Saturday anyway because Ipswich haven't given him permission, but I expect him to be fine for the following weekend when we go to Tranmere.”
