Town Eyeing Northern Irish Youngster - Ipswich Town News

Town are one of a number of clubs who have been keeping an eye on youngster Philip Lowry, according to reports in Northern Ireland. The 19-year-old midfielder, currently playing with Institute in the Irish Premier League, has been tipped for a big future by Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington.

Lowry is said to have been watched by the Blues, QPR, Norwich City and Leicester City this season, the latter pair having already taken him on trial. A move to an English club appears to be only a matter of time.

Worthington says he is well aware of Lowry's potential: "I know Philip from the [Northern Ireland] Milk Cup squad and he certainly is one for the future.

"Steve Beaglehole has had him in quite a few U21 squads and at the minute we should let him develop there.

"We have quite a few players in that position at the minute, but if an opportunity becomes available then we know where Philip is."

Central midfielder Lowry joined Institute from home town club Limvady ahead of the 2007/08 season and quickly became a first team regular.
