Town's Bolton Swap Shock! - Ipswich Town News
Bolton chairman Phil Gartside has said Town offered a swap deal for Claus Jensen and Eidur Gudjohnsen last summer. Gartside refused to mention the identities of the Town players but said they have done well this season in the Premiership.
Gartside said: "Ipswich came on to us for both Eidur Gudjohnsen and Claus Jensen last summer. They couldn't actually meet our valuation but they offered us players in exchange. I won't name them because it wouldn't be right, but I can tell you that the players we were offered have done really well in the Premiership!"
Town had a cash offer of £4 million agreed for Jensen as did Charlton and the Dane eventually chose to join the Addicks. Recently there has been speculation that Gudjohnsen is once again a target for Town. Now at Chelsea he is said to be unhappy at his lack of starts and wants to leave Stamford Bridge.
The Icelander shares an agent with Hermann Hreidarsson and there has even been speculation that Town might have put an offer in for Gudjohnsen on deadline day this season.
The identity of the Town players involved in the propsed move will lead to a great deal of specualtion. Jermaine Wright may be one name as may Jamie Clapham, but given that Gartside said the players involved have done well in the Premiership any number of Town players could be the men involved.
