TWTD reader and lifelong Town fan Dan Botten has published a new book Ipswich Town: On This Day, from which we will be taking extracts throughout the week. We'll also be running a daily competition in which you can win a copy.
Ipswich Town: On This Day, which we reckon is an ideal stocking filler for Town fans everywhere, charts, on a day-by-day basis, the major events in the club's history. It includes individual entries for every day of the year, plus multiple listings for busier times, as promotions, relegations, sensational signings, important matches and unique trivia are covered.
Saturday November 20th 1948

Question: Bill Jennings scored 41 goals in 102 Town appearances. Which manager brought him to Portman Road from Northampton Town in May 1947?
a) Sir Alf Ramsey
b) Jimmy Forsyth
c) Scott Duncan
Send your answer to competition@twtd.co.uk before 9am on Thursday and the winner will be drawn out at random from the correct responses. We'll be running another competition and extract tomorrow and throughout the week.

Meanwhile, midfielder David Norris is not now likely to face any action from the FA over his controversial goal celebration at Blackpool with the organisation happy with the way the Blues dealt with the situation. Norris was fined two weeks' wages and warned about his future conduct.
