No Contract for Burchill - Ipswich Town News

It is being reported that Town will not be looking to take Mark Burchill on permanently when his loan deal is up at the end of the season. The Scot has rarely featured since Marcus Stewart returned from his three match suspension after his red card against Leeds.

Town boss George Burley said: "Mark did well but we have good competition for the striking positions. He's only young and he is not the finished article but his attitude has been first class."

Burchill said recently that he was desperate to retun to Celtic and the end of the season and has also been linked with possible moves to Derby and West Ham.

Town are being linked to Bulgarian striker Georgi Ivanov from Levski Sofia. Apparently sources in Bulgaria are claiming that a £5 million bid is in for the 24-year-old. The former Lokomotiv Plovdiv player has had a lot of injury porblems since moving to Bontcho Guentchev's old club but is highly rated.

He is nicknamed Gonzo by his team-mates due to his large nose and has made 18 full international appearances and has scored three goals.

Youth team striker Darren Bent is hoping to get himself fit for Wednesday's FA Youth Cup semi-final second leg with Arsenal. Bent came off injured in Saturday's game with Watford and is desperate to be fit.

Bent was an Arsenal fan as a boy and said scoring the winner at Highbury in the first leg was "extra special". The 22-goal man said of his chances of playing: "I've had treatment over the weekend and hope to be able to play."

Town's end of season video will be be available from club shops from the first week of June. Once again produced by Visionsport it will be hoped it is a bit better than last year's which was criticised by many fans.
