Murphy Nets as Irish Win - Ipswich Town News
Academy striker Paul Murphy scored his first goal for the Republic of Ireland U19s as they defeated hosts Malta 2-0 in their first UEFA Championship qualifying group game this morning. Sunderland's Niall McArdle netted the first Irish goal.
Murphy, 17, was winning this third cap at U19 level.
The Irish youngsters now face Liechtenstein on Sunday and France on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Southampton have announced that Saturday's U18 game at their Staplewood training ground has been put back until 11.30am.
