Gartland Named in Irish Select XI - Ipswich Town News

Town target Graham Gartland has been named in the Team of the Year as selected by Monday Night Soccer, Irish TV channel RTÉ's weekly Eircom League show.

According to Irish sources, Gartland, who was previously named the Player of the Year at Drogheda, the club he left towards the end of the Irish season, is continuing to hold contract talks with the Blues.

TWTD was first to reveal that the 25-year-old was training with the Blues earlier in the month after being released from his Drogheda contract due to their ongoing financial problems.

Gartland is available on a free transfer but would be unable to join Town until the transfer window opens in January.

Also included on the select XI was Derry City winger Niall McGinn, who Town have been eyeing since August.

Elsewhere, West Brom have again been linked with former Blue Hermann Hreidarsson, who was recently mentioned in connection with a return to Town. The Icelander looks certain to leave Portsmouth during the transfer window.
