Murphy's Irish Lose to French - Ipswich Town News
Academy striker Paul Murphy won his fifth Republic of Ireland U19 cap as his side lost 2-0 to France in their final UEFA Championship first qualifying phase game in Malta this lunchtime. Ireland had already qualified for the next stage by beating the hosts and Liechtenstein.
France took advantage of the Irish being reduced to 10 men in the 70th minute, scoring both goals in the closing stages.
Murphy, who scored a stunning goal in the opening match against Malta, was replaced with six minutes of the match remaining.
