U18s in Youth Cup Action - Ipswich Town News
Town's U18s are in FA Youth Cup third round action against Shrewsbury at Portman Road on Tuesday night (KO 7pm). Town have won the trophy three times, most recently in 2005.
Academy coach Richard Hall told the club site: "It will be chance for the boys to play on the big stage, so to speak, and they are looking forward to it.
"This club has a tradition of doing well in the competition and it would be nice to have a good run again this season.
"The game has that extra edge in that it is a cup competition and hopefully the fans will come out and support the boys, and again, that will be a good learning curve for the youngsters here.
"The priority for us at the academy is not about winning trophies really, it's about the development of the boys through the levels into the first team, but we want to do well in the competition and being a knock-out game, it will add that little extra pressure and perhaps tell us something about the boys."
Tickets cost £3 for adults and £1 juniors and concessions with turnstiles open at 6.30pm with the Britannia Stand the only stand in use.
