Norwich MP Slams Prince Charles - Ipswich Town News

Norwich North MP Ian Gibson has launched a scathing attack on Prince Charles after the Royal wished Town "luck" during his visit to Portman Road earlier in the week. Gibson added that he felt the comment would be additional motivation to the Canaries ahead of Sunday's derby.

Dumfries-born Norwich season ticket holder Gibson, 70, blathered: "If Robert and William Kett had been alive today, they would have marched on Sandringham in outrage.

"I'm sure that fellow supporters will be incensed by these comments by the Prince."

Gibson, a Labour left winger, even tried to instil an element of class politics into what might be seen as Sunday's clash of East Anglia's footballing haves and have nots: "This just proves that Ipswich Town Football Club represents elitism and the old guard. If there was ever motivation to win a derby match this is it."

Charles was at Portman Road on Tuesday to visit the club's Community Trust, the first in football to run Prince's Trust courses.
