Singer/songwriter Asa Jennings's musical tribute to Town legend Kevin Beattie, Call Upon The Beat, is now on sale from TWTD, just in time for Christmas.
Asa told TWTD, which gets a namecheck in the lyrics, how the idea for the song came about: "My dad Karl bumped into The Beat and got talking with him. He mentioned it to me, I came up with some lyrics and the song was born from there.
"I have been going to Portman Road since my Dad took me aged three and I have only missed about half a dozen home games since then. I'm now 28 and sit in the North Stand lower.
â€ÂThe song is basically about how we were a force and The Beat was our greatest ever player and how we're striving to get back to those days again.â€Â
The song will be played at the next two home games and Asa will be giving The Beat his copy of the CD on the pitch ahead of the Cardiff City game next Saturday.
In 2006 Asa had considerable success in both UK songwriting and vocal competitions. He subsequently sold everything he owned to independently finance his debut album, My Own Worst Enemy, which was released in 2007 and sold in more than 23 countries.
Asa says he hopes his next album, which will include Call Upon The Beat will continue to widen his audience: "It's shaping up to be far superior to the first and I am hoping to build on my success nationally."
You can buy the CD from TWTD here, but will also be on sale next to Sir Alf (where TWTD's stall is usually sited) prior to and after the Cardiff and Bristol City games and also in Planet Blue from Monday.
