Town Still Waiting on FA Cup Opponents - Ipswich Town News
Town are still waiting to discover who they will play in the third round of the FA Cup after Chesterfield and Droylsden drew 2-2 in their second round tie at Saltergate. The match had been rescheduled after fog had caused its abandonment 10 days ago.
There was controversy late in Tuesday's game when former Grimsby man Jack Lester scored a goal after Droylsden had put the ball out of play to allow treatment to one of their players.
With the game boiling over and Droylsden boss Dave Pace being restrained by stewards after charging towards the Chesterfield dug-out, the Spireites took the decision to allow the Blue Square North side to score an equaliser.
Chesterfield, who included former Town man Darren Currie in their line-up, will travel to Droylsden's Butcher's Arms Ground for the replay next Tuesday with the prize a game at Portman Road on January 3rd.
