Town Considering Bruce Appeal - Ipswich Town News

Central defender Alex Bruce has denied that the tackle which led to his red card was two-footed and Town are considering an appeal against the dismissal.

Bruce told the club site: "It wasn't a two footed challenge. I didn't lunge at the player. We both went into the tackle at the same time and my momentum has carried me through.

"My boot wasn't raised and was by the side of the ball and I made the challenge with one foot. There was no malice there. It was just two players going for the ball. He's slid in on the floor and my momentum has carried me through as I've won the ball."

Manager Jim Magilton added after watching the incident again after the match: "When you see the challenge in slow motion, it's clear that it's not a two-footed tackle and Alex's foot isn't raised. He's gone into the lad with his momentum after the tackle.

"We will look at it again in the morning but we are certainly considering an appeal."

If Town do appeal, Bruce will be available for the Cardiff match with the hearing next week. Bruce faces a four-match ban for his second dismissal of the season.
