Gartland on Trial at Forest - Ipswich Town News
Town target Graham Gartland is on a two-day trial with fellow Championship side Nottingham Forest. The central defender is also set to spend time with Leicester City and have a second spell with Burnley.
Gartland, a free agent after leaving crisis Irish club Drogheda in October, was recently on trial with the Blues, impressing boss Jim Magilton. Irish reports say the Blues manager told Gartland that there is a good chance that he will be offered a deal with Town in January.
The Irish B international is also interesting SPL giants Rangers and has confirmed that he has been offered a trial at Ibrox. The 25-year-old says he would have no qualms about joining the Glasgow club despite his Irish Catholic background: "I have nothing to lose. If I was to sign for them then it would help others to do the same.
"There are young lads who have maybe looked at it and thought that it's not worth all the stick they would get. Perhaps if an older player like myself was to sign then it would make it easier.
"I'd love the have the opportunity to join them but I'm not getting ahead of myself. So far, it has just been talk about me going on trial. I'm waiting to hear back on that and I'll take it from there.â€Â
Gartland has also been linked with Hamilton Academical, St Johnstone, Kilmarnock, Elfsborg and Helsingborg.
