Bruce Appeal on Friday - Ipswich Town News

An FA Regulatory Commission will hear Alex Bruce's red card appeal at 1pm on Friday. Bruce was sent off for serious foul play during the 3-1 victory over Bristol City after tackling Robins striker Nicky Maynard.

Boss Jim Magilton told the club site that Town feel the video evidence supports Bruce's case: "The boy is a wholehearted player and, having watched his challenge on Nicky Maynard again on video, we felt there was good enough reason to launch an appeal over the red card.

"It's not a two-footed challenge and he hasn't gone over the ball. The other lad has gone to ground early and Alex's momentum has taken him into the player.

"We will have to wait and see how the judging panel view it."

If the appeal fails, Bruce will face a four-game ban for his second red card of the season, although it is possible that the FA could impose a further one-match suspension if they deem the appeal frivolous.
