Fab: Dutch Move Would Suit Deano - Ipswich Town News

A move to Dutch football could benefit striker Dean Bowditch, according to testimonial man Fabian Wilnis. The Dutchman, who is the interview star of the new issue of TWTD, says he and chief scout Steve McCall have both suggested that Bowditch considers a move to Holland.

Wilnis told TWTD: "Deano is such a skilful player, but obviously in England the game's very physical, whereas in Holland it's less so and is more technical.

"Steve McCall had a word with him about it and I've also suggested to Deano that the Dutch league would be ideal for him.

"If you see him in training, he's the best trainer at the club. He is so good and so skilful on the ball it's just a shame that it's never come out on the pitch in the first team. I don't think the fans have seen the best of him. He has great, great potential.”

The academy product is out of contract at the end of the season and looks set to leave Portman Road either in January or in the summer. Over the weekend the former England U19 international said he would consider staying with current loan club Brentford beyond the end of his current spell.

TWTD issue 95 will be on sale from our sellers around the ground on Boxing Day (by Sir Alf, the Portman Road entrance to the Greene King Stand, by Planet Blue) from 1pm.

As well as the interview with Fab in which he talks about his testimonial year, his plans to form the Fabian Wilnis Foundation, life in the Blue Square Premier and lots of other stuff, there are pieces on Jim Magilton's management, the UEFA Cup, watching the early, early rounds of the FA Cup and spotting Bontcho, great players not becoming great managers and very, very much more.

If you're not at the Birmingham game, you can buy either a six-issue subscription or a single copy here.
