Town to Finally Learn Cup Opponents - Ipswich Town News

Town should finally learn their FA Cup third round opponents this evening when Droylsden and Chesterfield restage their second round replay at the Bloods' Butcher's Arms Ground.

The game was abandoned last Tuesday due to floodlight failure with the League Two side two goals in front. Former Blue Darren Currie had netted the second Chesterfield goal before the lights went out in the 72nd minute, former Grimsby and Nottingham Forest man Jack Lester having scored the first.

The original match was also abandoned, because of fog, with the rescheduled game ending in a bizarre 2-2 draw.

Meanwhile, Italian sources are again linking Town central defender Alex Bruce with a move to Fiorentina. Bruce, who is out of contract next summer, has also been mentioned in connection with Genoa, Napoli, Norwich, Leeds, Burnley and Preston.

Bruce is one of 14 players out of contract in the summer and yet to be offered new terms. Town manager Jim Magilton has said he will listen to offers which come in for the 14 during January.

The 14 players are Alex Bruce, Iván Campo, Dan Harding, Chris Casement, Dean Bowditch, Liam Trotter, Kurt Robinson, Matt Richards, Billy Clarke, Richard Naylor, Tommy Miller, Shane Supple, Jai Reason and Ed Upson.

Elsewhere, former Blue Mich D'Avray has been removed from his post as boss of struggling South African side Bloemfontein Celtic. The ex-England U21 striker will continue with the club but as technical director role.
