Town Again Linked With Gillingham's Jackson - Ipswich Town News

Town are again being linked with a move for Gillingham striker Simeon Jackson. The frontman impressed and scored for the Gills in Sunday's live TV FA Cup defeat to Aston Villa.

The Blues were first linked with Canadian youngster Jackson a month ago with coach Bryan Klug subsequently admitting that the 21-year-old is a player he rates.

Yesterday, Gillingham boss Mark Stimson said he was yet to receive an offer for the former Rushden striker and hoped one wouldn't materialise during the transfer window: "Every player has his price and hopefully my phone will keep quiet over January.

"I think people may look at him in the summer. They'll think he's done fantastically well in the first half of the season and if he can continue to develop in the second half then someone will definitely want to gamble.”

Meanwhile, recent Town target Graham Gartland has revealed that the Blues made a firm offer to his former club Drogheda a year ago: "This time last year Ipswich had a £250,000 bid for me turned down and it was disappointing at the time."

Gartland joined Scottish side St Johnstone at the start of the transfer window, having spent time on trial with the Blues and a number of other clubs.

Elsewhere, Martijn Reuser has been offered a year's extension to his contract with NAC Breda. The former Blue, 34 next month, will now remain with the club until 2010.
