Quinn Linked With Wednesday, Bruce With Wolves - Ipswich Town News

Town's Alan Quinn is being linked with a return to Sheffield Wednesday, while Wolves are the latest club to be mentioned in connection with Alex Bruce in this morning's nationals. Elsewhere, West Brom's Marek Cech is claimed to be interesting the Blues.

Quinn started his career with Wednesday before moving on to Sheffield United and then Town a year ago.

The Irish international has been in and out of the side this season and looks unlikely to hold down a regular place in the team with the Blues targeting a new left-sided midfielder in the transfer window. Club Banfield's Luciano Civelli was reported to be close to a move by the Argentinian press earlier in the week.

Bruce, who is understood to have turned down his two-year contract with Town, has been linked with innumerable clubs in recent months, but Championship leaders Wolves are now reported to be heading the chase.

Slovakian international Cech, who is claimed to be available for around £1.2 million, has reportedly said he is unhappy with his lack of opportunities with West Brom and would like to leave, although subsequently the Baggies have said he was misquoted by the press in his home country.

The 25-year-old left-sided midfielder or full-back started his career with Inter Bratislava, moving on to Sparta Prague and then Porto before signing for West Brom last summer.

Cech looks an unlikely target if Town are as close to signing Civelli as Argentinian sources suggested earlier in the week. The Blues are believed to have had a bid of around £1 million accepted by Banfield for 50% of the 22-year-old's rights.
