Jim: Civelli Move Could Take Time - Ipswich Town News

Boss Jim Magilton says Town's move for Argentinian left midfielder Luciano Civelli could still take some time. The 22-year-old Club Banfield player is keen on a move to English football and so far the discussions are progressing smoothly.

Magilton told the club site that he is looking to make a number of additions to his squad during January: "We have got a few targets and I'd like to see a couple of new faces added to the squad if we can get them.

"We've had good reports on Civelli and the lad seems very keen to play in England. It's an ongoing situation at the moment and probably because he's on the other side of the world, it's going to take time to be resolved, one way or the other.

"It's very positive at the moment though and if we can make it work, the lad could be a big asset for us.

"We have identified the players we would like to bring in and we are not going to move from them. If it happens, then it will give us a boost. It's a crazy month though, the transfer window, and we're already been linked with a whole string of players.

"It's the same up and down the country and we could probably all do without it, but the transfer window in January is part of the game now and if you get the right player in it can have a massive impact on the season and give you a real impetus.

"That said, it's not the easiest thing for players to come in to a new club and make an immediate impact. They need time to settle down and get used to the new surroundings and new team-mates.

"If we get in the players we want then fantastic, if we don't then I have every confidence in the squad we have here."
