Stewart Back in Training - Ipswich Town News

Marcus Stewart is back in full training and will be fit for Saturday's game with Derby. Stewart missed the Manchester City match with a thigh injury picked up in the Charlton game.

He is likely to join Alun Armstrong up front with James Scowcroft dropping to the bench.

Town have now returned from their short break in Majorca. The rest has done Jim Magilton good and he has had the stiches taken out of his knee. The Northern Irishman was the victim of a particularly bad Paulo Wanchope lunge during the City game.

Town are being linked with a close season move for Coventry's Paul Telfer. The midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and would be available on a free.

Town and several other Premiership clubs including Derby and Leicester are said to be tailing the 29-year-old Scot who previously played for Luton.

Meanwhile Georgi Ivanov, the Bulgarian player Town admitted to watching last week, has also emerged as a target for Rangers. The Scottish club already have one Bulgarian, Stilian Petrov, and this is claimed to be tempting Ivanov in that direction.

John Inglis, currently on loan at Raith Rovers, played with Ivanov during a spell with Levski Sofia a year or so ago. He is back in Bulgaria at present and said: "I've heard that Rangers are interested in him and it was splashed all over the newspapers here. I knew about six weeks ago when an agent friend of mine told me there was interest from the UK in Georgi. I'm not surprised really because he is a top class striker. I played with him last year and know all about him. He is a very good athlete who has all the right ingredients in his game. He is strong, powerful and good in the air. He is also quick off the mark on the ground and an extremely skilful player."

Town's Academy U17s are suffering with fixture congestion. They won through to the Academy play-off final at the weekend and will meet Newcastle. Finding a date is tricky however, due to Newcastle's remaining Premiership fixtures and as Town's U17s play in Holland late next week.

The away leg is due to be played first, but Newcastle still have two home Premiership games to play. One possibility is that the home leg be played first, on Saturday at Portman Road.
