Boss Jim Magilton admitted his side had a poor day and defended badly as they lost 3-0 at Swansea.
Magilton said: "I can see why Swansea are doing so well because all their players are comfortable in possession but I was really confident coming here after winning three away games in a row.
"Our game plan was to retain possession as much as possible but we never had the spark that Swansea's confidence gave them.
"Emotions are running high at the moment but the players have just had a poor day and defended badly.
"We were prepared right and we played some decent football at times, but we lacked belief again in the last third of the pitch and I don't know why.
"I expected more from us, playing the game on the back of three away wins.
"We have played on the front foot away from home this season but today we lacked quality when it counted and we didn't test their keeper enough, which was very frustrating.
"They are in good form and had a real belief going forward and we didn't have that, and that's very disappointing and hard to take.
"We've got to react now and bounce back next week. We have two home games coming up against Blackpool and Forest and we need to really pick up six points. We need to stand up and be counted."
Swansea boss Roberto Martinez felt the early goal was important: "We knew we had a huge challenge on our hands today and Ipswich showed in spells just how good they are.
"I am delighted we kept playing our normal game but goals change matches and we imposed ourselves upon Ipswich after scoring so early.
"I'm sure it was a pleasure for our fans to watch a performance like that and everyone kept up their standards, not just Jason Scotland.
"His second goal was superb and he is a great finisher who also holds the ball up well but every player contributed to the victory.
"We are into the last third of the season and our target must now be the play-offs. Everyone should be proud of out achievements but we must keep on progressing so that we can realise our dreams."
