Town Tight-lipped on Spaniard - Ipswich Town News

Town boss George Burley has refused to comment on speculation that the Blues may be about to sign Pablo Couñago. This is generally the way Burley treats things when asked about players in contract, although he has been known to rule players out if there is no Town interest.

Further to this morning's report it seems the Spaniard, his agent and girlfriend were shown round the club on Tuesday by David Sheepshanks and George Burley.

It is also suggested that other English clubs may be interested in the central striker or left-sided player.

Town chairman David Sheepshanks and Director of Communications Alesha Gooderham were in New York last week studying match presentation methods at ice hockey and baseball matches. Town have a new £650,000 PA going in over the summer and they obviously want to make the most of it.

Sheepshanks said: "We watched the New York Yankees and the New Jersey Devils. We saw behind the scenes and generally gleaned a lot of excellent information about not only sound but general match presentation."
