No Town Concerns on Civelli Passport - Ipswich Town News

Town say they have no concerns regarding new signing Luciano Civelli's Italian passport, despite his brother Renato's papers being under investigation in France. Civelli's older brother currently plays for Marseille.

A Town spokesman said: "The Football Association have seen Luciano's passport and all the paperwork concerning his transfer and are entirely satisfied. We are happy that there are no problems.”

As TWTD reported on Saturday, the French football authorities are investigating the legitimacy of Civelli senior's Italian passport in the wake of the discovery that Monaco's Leandro Curfe was playing on fake documents.

Investigations have also been launched into three other Argentinians currently playing in France on Italian passports, Bordeaux's Fernando Cavenaghi and Diego Placente, and Toulouse's Mauro Cetto.

However, Marseille's administrative director Julien Fournier says his club are unconcerned by the investigation: "We are untroubled by it. We have a certificate issued by the Consulate of Italy in Renato Civelli's native region of Argentina."
