Shumi and Trialist Net as Reserves Win at Watford - Ipswich Town News

Trialist Thomas McCready and Macedonian international midfielder Veliche Shumulikoski scored early goals as Town's reserves defeated Watford 2-0 at Boreham Wood's Meadow Park on Monday evening.

Former Everton midfielder McCready, 17, opened the scoring in the fifth minute, chasing a ball over the top and flicking it into the net off on-rushing Watford keeper Richard Lee.

Shumulikoski added to Town's lead three minutes later with a brilliant scissor-kick from the edge of the box from a cross from the right.

There were few chances at either end with Shane Supple almost completely untested behind centre-halves Matt Richards and Jack Ainsley.

Reggie Lambe came close to adding to the Town lead in the second half with a shot which hit the post, while Moritz Volz forced keeper Lee into a good save.

Volz, Shumulikoski and young left-back Seb Dunbar were amongst the Blues' best performers, but it was a good display overall and Town deserved the three points.

Trialist McCready had a quiet game aside from his goal and was replaced with Joe Clemo in the 77th minute. The Blues also included Emmanuel Richardson, the former Norwich academy player also on trial at present, in the 16, but he was left on the bench throughout.

Reserves: Supple, Volz, Ainsley, Richards, Dunbar, Shumulikoski, Peters (Murray 70), McCready (Clemo 77), Lambe, Wickham (Hyam 77), Bowditch. Unused: Ward, Richardson.
