Supple to Join Grimsby, But Clarke Back at Town - Ipswich Town News

Keeper Shane Supple is set for a one-month loan move to League Two Grimsby Town. The Irish U21 international has made only one senior appearance for the Blues this season, in the Carling Cup tie against Leyton Orient.

Supple, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has been a regular on Town's bench, but the club have long planned for him to make a loan move to gain match experience.

Last season, he spent time with Falkirk but the 21-year-old made only four appearances for the SPL side in half a season. Supple has made 35 starts and two sub appearances for the Blues.

Meanwhile, striker Billy Clarke is back with Town at the end of his one-month loan spell with Northampton.

Cobblers' boss Stuart Gray is keen for the Irishman to return to Sixfields: "Billy Clarke's month on loan is up and he's gone back to Ipswich to have a chat with Jim Magilton to see where his future lies.

"We are hoping to maybe extend his loan here, but he is Ipswich Town's player so we are just waiting to see what happens with that."

Clarke, who is also out of contract in the summer, scored a hat-trick for Northampton on his debut but failed to find the net in his next four games.
