Seaman Backs Wright - Ipswich Town News
England and Arsenal keeper David Seaman has backed Richard Wright to be his successor at international level. Wright has so far made one appearance for the full team in the eventful Malta match last summer. Since then David James seems to have nipped ahead of Wright in the pecking order but Seaman seems in no doubt that Wright is a quality keeper.
The be-ponytailed stopper said: "He's put that [Malta game] behind him and shown that he has the character to be a top-class goalkeeper. I think he's had a big part to play in the success Ipswich have enjoyed this season."
Wright was not named in Sven-Goran Eriksson's latest England squad as he has gone into hospital for his hernia operation.

Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Ipswich Town - Match AbandonedTown look set to face a return trip to Blackburn Rovers later in the season after this afternoon’s game was abandoned after 80 minutes due to a waterlogged pitch with the home side 1-0 up and with the Blues down to 10 men. Jacob Greaves was shown a straight red card four minutes after the break for hauling down Yuki Ohashi, then Rovers skipper Todd Cantwell netted a penalty on 59, but the heavy rain had made the game increasingly farcical the longer it progressed and in the 80th minute referee Stephen Martin took the players off and then 25 minutes later abandoned it entirely.
