Town and Watford Watching Barnet Striker - Ipswich Town News

Town and Watford are keeping an eye on Barnet striker John O'Flynn, according to one of this morning's tabloids. TWTD previously reported that the Blues were watching O'Flynn during his time with Cork City.

O'Flynn, 26, joined Peterborough United as a youngster but returned to Cork City where he broke into the first team in 2002, playing alongside former Blue George O'Callaghan, Reading's Kevin Doyle and Sunderland's Roy O'Donovan.

The Cobh-born player scored 68 times in 138 games for the Eircom League side with TWTD reporting that he was on Town's radar in July 2007.

Former Irish U21 international O'Flynn, 5ft 11in tall, left Cork for Barnet on a free transfer last summer and has scored 17 goals in 30 starts and two sub appearances for the League Two club this season.

Meanwhile, skipper Gareth McAuley says he would be delighted to see fellow central defender Iván Campo to stay on at the club for a second season and says he can see the Spaniard carrying on in football after his playing days are over: "He loves to see the game played the right way, in the right fashion, and from my point of view I can see him going into coaching.

"He's a character and there are not too many around like him and it would be nice to see him go into the coaching side of the game.”

Campo will automatically be offered a second year at Town if he makes a set number of appearances this season, although the Blues could still decide to extend his stay even if he doesn't make that target.
