Dos Santos Could Face Honduras - Ipswich Town News

Loanee striker Giovani Dos Santos could play for Mexico in next Wednesday's World Cup qualifier in Honduras after all, despite initially having been ruled out due to the groin injury he suffered against Watford. The Spurs man is still definitely out of Saturday's game against Costa Rica.

Town physio Matt Byard told the club site that he has been in contact with Mexico's doctors regarding Dos Santos's abductor strain: "We are keeping in constant touch with the Mexico medical people and we've been told that Gio is responding to treatment.

"We will know more about his fitness after the weekend. There is a chance that he could be ready for the Wednesday game and they will know that on Monday.

"If he's not fit, then hopefully he will be able to come back to England and will possibly have a chance to be available for the Sheffield United match.

"If he stays with Mexico, then he will not be getting back to England until Friday and it will be then a case of seeing how quickly he has recovered from the trip and whether there has been any reaction to the injury."

Mexico's doctors originally said they expected the 19-year-old to be out of action for around 10 days.
