Town, Palace and the MK Dons Watching Lambert - Ipswich Town News

Town, Crystal Palace and the MK Dons are all reportedly eyeing Bristol Rovers striker Rickie Lambert. The 27-year-old has scored 25 goals for mid-table League One side Rovers this season.

Liverpool-born Lambert started his career with Blackpool, but after only three sub appearances moved on to Macclesfield on a free transfer in March 2001. Having scored 10 goals in 41 starts and eight sub appearances he moved on to Stockport a year later for £300,000.

Having netted 19 goals in 98 starts and 12 appearances from the bench, 6ft 2in tall Lambert joined Rochdale for £25,000 in 2005.

Prior to his time at Spotland Lambert had spent much of his time playing in midfield, but with Dale he was viewed as the main striker and scored 28 times in 65 starts and three sub appearances and was joint-top scorer in League Two in 2005/06 with 22 goals.

This led to his £200,000 move to Bristol Rovers in August 2006. While at the Memorial Ground Lambert has netted 54 goals in 131 starts and 16 appearances as a substitute.

Lambert, who is contracted to Rovers until 2011, has been linked with moves to various other clubs this season, including a claim that Huddersfield made a £750,000 bid in January.
