Wickham With England U16s - Ipswich Town News

Academy striker Connor Wickham is with the England U16 squad this week at the Montaigu Tournament in France. Wickham, who is set to join the academy as a full-time scholar in the summer, scored a hat-trick for Town's U18s on Saturday as they defeated Southampton 4-1.

England start their campaign with a game against Russia on Wednesday, then take on the United Arab Emirates the following day. Their final group game is against the Ivory Coast on Saturday with the final and third/fourth play-off next Monday.

Wickham has previously won two U16 caps, scoring his first goal in the victory over Scotland in November. The 16-year-old, who has already been included in the Town first team squad, also won four caps at U17 level last summer at the Nordic Tournament in Denmark in which England annually field an U16 squad despite the competition being for the older age group.

England U16s: Chuks Aneke (Arsenal), Nicholas Yennaris (Arsenal), Jack Butland (Birmingham City), Alex Billington (Blackburn Rovers), Jordan Cousins (Charlton Athletic), Nathaniel Chalobah (Chelsea), Ross Barkley (Everton), Connor Wickham (Ipswich Town), Jack Robinson (Liverpool), Andre Wisdom (Liverpool), John Cofie (Manchester United), William Keane (Manchester United), Ravel Morrison (Manchester United), Tom Thorpe (Manchester United), Bruno Pilatos (Middlesbrough), Jak Alnwick (Newcastle United), George Thorn (West Bromwich Albion) and Robert Hall (West Ham United).
