Burley Denies Links - Ipswich Town News

George Burley has denied that Town are interested in either of the players linked with Town at the weekend. Newspapers suggested Town were interested in his nephew Craig and Manchester United's Mark Wilson, both at a cost of £3 million.

Burley, off to hospital on Thursday for a knee operation, said: "I have one or two players in mind and will try to push deals through in the next few weeks."

Town's pre-season continues to come together with games in either Ireland or Holland planned after the home game with Parma. The Italian side play Town on either August 3rd or 4th. It is likely that there would be one game in Holland or two games in Ireland.

Town have already fixed their pre-season tour for Finland and Estonia and also have away friendlies at Peterborough and Braintree.

Pre-season fitness training has already been fixed for the Royal Hospital School, Holbrook in July led by fitness coach Simon Thadani.

The U17s have added another trophy to this season's haul by winning thier tournament in Holland. The youngsters capped an excellent season by coming through unbeaten against a number of Dutch sides.

They beat Willem II 1-0, then Marco Holster's old club Heracles 5-0 (Darren Bent hat-trick) then Quick 1888 4-0. Next up were Paul Mason's old side Groningen who were despatched 3-0 as were hosts Beuningse Boys. The final saw Town take on FC Zwolle and beat then 6-1 with Dickinson, Bent, Burton, Ambrose, Richards and Westlake all on the scoresheet.

The games were played over 25 minute halves in searing heat. Further silverware went to Darren Bent for top-scoring and Robert Dickinson as Most Valuable Player.
