Town Beat Manchester United - Ipswich Town News

Town's U15s provided a sparkling display to comprehensively defeat Manchester United's youngsters in front of a crowd of 2,296 at Portman Road on Friday evening, a game which was sponsored by former Blues academy player Titus Bramble.

The Blues opened the scoring after just seven minutes when Kenny McEvoy forced the ball over the line from a corner.

The Blues lively attack forced a string of further corners and went close to adding to their lead and it was the 25th minute before Gregor Amos had to make their first save of the match.

The pace of Irish youngster McEvoy continued to trouble the Reds' defence and he had a shot cleared off the line on the stroke of half-time.

The second half saw Town again dominate and but for the outstanding Tyler Blackett in the Manchester United defence, they would have put the result beyond doubt well before the end.

It was two minutes from time when they finally scored again, Leiston-born Tom Winter beating the Red Devils keeper from close range having been put through by the impressive Seth Duzgun.

U15s: Gregor Amos, Aaron Jones, Connor Cramner, Jordan Traynier, Callum Bennett (c), Joe Whight, Eddie Wilding, Seth Duzgun, Kenny McEvoy, Tommy Winter and Ryan McCloskey. Subs: Andrew Welling, Ben Lancaster (GK), Jamie Massey, Lewis Acott, Jack Simmons and Miguel Nydam.
