Trotter came on as an 80th minute sub having recovered from the virus which kept him out of action earlier in the week.

Elsewhere, Billy Clarke played for the first 70 minutes of League Two champions Brentford's 2-0 home win against Luton but failed to add to his goals. The Irishman ends his spell with the Bees having scored six goals in eight games.
The Blue Square Premier ended last week, but Jai Reason is likely to be in action for Cambridge in the second leg of their play-off against Stevenage on Monday. Boro are 3-1 up from the first leg.
