Nygaard the Man - Ipswich Town News

Further information suggests that contrary to earlier reports Marc Nygaard is in fact an attacking midfielder and not a striker. Sources had suggested to TWTD earlier in the week that George Burley was targeting a player from the continent and Nygaard seems to be just the kind of player George Burley would target.

The Danish international plays for his country this evening against the Czech Republic and Town are reported to be watching. The 24-year-old is currently with JC Roda Kerkrade in Holland and has also played for Heerenveen and MVV Maastricht.

Nygaard is almost certain to leave his club and has had a falling out of spectacular proportions. The club have slapped on his head a fee of over £8 million and he is threatening legal action. However, it appears good sense will out and it is likely the club will accept something around the £5 million level. He has two years left of his current contract.

Another reason for the player's desire to leave is the recent move of coach Sef Vergooseen to Genk in Belgium.

Recently Nygaard's agent Keje Molennar claimed that a number of clubs in England had expressed an interest in the player so Town could face competition if they are indeed after the Dane.

Town have regularly been reported watching Roda play with Tom Soetaers previously thought to be the target. Could it really be his team-mate that Romeo Zondervan has been watching?
