Smith Can't Wait for the New Season - Ipswich Town News
Returning defender Tommy Smith says he can't wait for the new season to start after an injury hit 2008/09. The 19-year-old broke an ankle in August after making his debut on the first day of the season, but came back into the side in the final game against Coventry.
Smith told the club site: "To be out for so long, it makes you appreciate the game. You see what you are missing out on. It's not a long career anyway and you want to make the most of it. I can't wait to get going again.
"I'm going to keep doing my rehab over the next few weeks because I am not 100 per cent yet and that will set me up for pre-season.
"I want to come back fighting fit and really be ready to push for a place in the first team when the season gets under way."
