Burley Denies Nygaard Link - Ipswich Town News

Town boss George Burley has denied that Marc Nygaard is the subject of the bid for a midfielder tabled last week. Widespread reports over the weekend claimed that Nygaard was the sunject of the bid George Burley admitted was waiting to hear back about last week.

The Town boss said: "We have not made a bid. There is the usual speculation going around but I will not talk about players."

So who is it, Kavianpour, Koumas, Kennedy, Kachloul or someone whose name doesn't begin with a K?

Burley also rejected other reports that Martijn Reuser is a target of a number of clubs including Dutch side PSV.

Town will play two games in Ireland in August. The game with Bray Wanderers has been set for August 9th while there is also a game with Dublin City on August 7th.

George Burley has confirmed that Town would get a percentage of any fee played for Kieron Dyer in the summer. Manchester United have long been favourites to land Dyer for a fee somewhere in the region of £20 million.

At the time of Dyer's transfer to Newcastle, Town said they would get an undisclosed percentage of any profit made on a later sale by the Tynesiders.

Burley said: "There is a percentage to be paid which would give Ipswich a substantial sum if any such transfer was made."

How substantial substantial is will be the subject of much speculation over the summer.

Matt Holland came on as sub for Ireland as they drew 1-1 with Portugal on Saturday. However, as Roy Keane picked up a booking he is likely to be a starter for their next game, with Estonia on Wednesday.

Elsewhere Hermann Hreidarsson missed Iceland's game with Malta due to his knee gash. The Icelanders won 3-0. Jim Magilton also missed out as Northern Ireland lost 1-0 to Bulgaria. Magilton recently had an operation on his varicose veins. Sean Friars, relaeased by Town, was on the Northern Irish U21 side which drew 1-1 with Bulgaria's U21s. Amir Karic's Slovenia won 2-0 against Luxembourg.

George Burley praised new signing Pablo Couñago after he scored a hat-trick for Spain's U21s on Friday. The Town boss said: "I'm very pleased for Pablo. It is good all-round that he is playing and scoring at such a high level and is on top form."

Can't wait to see him in a Town shirt.
