Trotter in Play-Off Action - Ipswich Town News

On-loan midfielder Liam Trotter is likely to be in the Scunthorpe squad this evening as the Iron take on the MK Dons in the away leg of their League One play-off semi-final (Sky Sports One, 7.30pm). The tie stands at 1-1 after the first leg.

Trotter was an unused sub in the game at Glanford Park, but until suffering from a virus a fortnight ago had won himself a regular place in the side.

If Scunthorpe win, they'll face Millwall at Wembley, the Lions having defeated Richard Naylor's Leeds last night in the other semi-final.

Trotter and Dan Harding, who has been on loan at Reading, are the only two out of contract players still to learn their fate.

On Sunday, Jai Reason, released by the Blues a week ago, will be in Blue Square Premier play-off final action with Cambridge against Torquay (Setanta Sports One, 3.25pm). The U's are keen to sign the 19-year-old permanently in the summer, although a number of league sides, including Hartlepool, have been keeping an eye on him.

Meanwhile, another of Town's released midfielders, Tommy Miller, has confirmed that he had made the decision to leave the Blues before Roy Keane took over as manager: "I have a young family and when it became apparent nothing was going to be offered weeks ago I knew I had to get myself sorted out.

"I would have liked to have stayed with Ipswich but things were too uncertain, so I actually started things rolling weeks ago. When Roy Keane came in it changed nothing for me really.”

Miller, who is expected to join Sheffield Wednesday, says he is taking his coaching badges and doesn't rule out a possible fourth spell with the Blues in a backroom capacity in the future.
