Town Eyeing Move for Leicester Defender? - Ipswich Town News
Town are keen on signing Leicester City left-back Joe Mattock, according to one of this morning's tabloids. The Blues are said to be ready to offer £2 million for the 19-year-old.
Mattock, 5ft 11in tall, came through the youth system at his hometown club and made his debut as a 16-year-old in April 2007.
Capped by England at U15, U16, U17, U19 and U21 levels, Mattock became the second youngest player after Theo Walcott to appear for the U21s when he won the first of his five caps in a 2-1 victory over Bulgaria in November last year.
Mattock is contracted to the Foxes until the summer of 2010 and was the subject of two seven-figure offers during the 2008 summer transfer window. He has made 61 starts and 12 sub appearances for Leicester, scoring one goal.
