First Irish Friendly Confirmed - Ipswich Town News

Town will play FAI First Division side Finn Harps at their Finn Park ground on Tuesday 7th July (KO 8pm). The match is the first of a number of Irish pre-season games set to be confirmed.

The County Donegal club are currently 10th in the First Division (second tier of Irish football).

Meanwhile, the delay in confirmation of Town's game at Cork City, provisionally set for July 19th, may be down to the Irish club's potentially perilous financial position.

The Rebel Army are due at the High Court in Dublin on Monday where a petition by the Irish Revenue Commissioners to have the club wound up will be heard.

Cork owe the taxman more than €200,000, but club owner Tom Coughlan is confident that a settlement can be reached regarding the debt, probably involving funds from the Town friendly.

Limerick and Dundalk have also offered Town friendlies in the Irish Republic, while a match at Shamrock Rovers has also been rumoured.

Back in England, first team friendlies already organised are a game against Charlton at the Valley on Tuesday 28th July, a trip to Southend on Wednesday 22nd July, a visit to Brentford on Wednesday 15th July and the Fabian Wilnis testimonial at Portman Road against Colchester on Saturday 25th July.

A Town reserves side will travel to Hadleigh United for a pre-season game at their Millfield ground on Wednesday 8th July.
