Nygaard Linked Again - Ipswich Town News

JC Roda's Danish midfielder Marc Nygaard is once again being linked with Town despite George Burley's denial of any interest in the player earlier in the week. A report even goes so far as to say that Nygaard will sign a deal with Town next week.

The weekend saw Nygaard linked in a number of places, but by the Monday George Burley had denied all interest, saying of the player and the reports: "We have not made a bid. There is the usual speculation going around but I will not talk about players."

Nygaard himself is currently with the Danish squad for World Cup qualifiers and says he has not yet spoken to any clubs: "Actually, I have not been in touch with any clubs, because I wanted to wait until the World Cup qualifiers have been played. I want to play in a big league and English football has fascinated me since I was a child."

He does have an admiration for England and Town: "I always enjoy visiting England. Ipswich were the big surprise this season. It's a good club with good depth, otherwise I don't know much about them."

George Burley's admission yesterday that the bid was a for an English player from the lower divisions makes the Nygaard story look even less likely.

Former Town striker Chris Kiwomya is being linked with a possible move to Colchester United. Kiwomya was amongst 16 players released by QPR recently and is certainly familiar to most at Layer Road. Manager Steve Whitton and coach Geraint Williams both played with him at Town, while Jason Dozzell was a close mate.

Meanwhile former Town keeper Lee Bracey is amongst a number of players being released by Hull. The balding custodian failed to make a start at Town as Richard Wright kept him at bay. He did become a popular radio figure on Radio Suffolk as he regularly joined terry Baxter in the commentary box.
