Town Duo at U21 Tournament - Ipswich Town News
Town head of football development Bryan Klug and international scout Simon Hunt are reported to be on their way to the Tournoi Espoirs de Toulon in France this week. The U21 competition, popularly known as the Toulon tournament, started last Wednesday and runs until Friday.
Eight teams are taking part in the tournament: Argentina, Holland, UAE, Egypt, Chile, France, Portugal and Qatar.
A host of players are reported to be the reason for the trip, including Liverpool striker David Ngog, said to be a possible loan target, although Town scouts regularly take in similar youth tournaments in order to get a general overview of the promising young players coming through around the world.
Elsewhere, veteran Portsmouth full-back Lauren has been linked with the Blues. The 32-year-old former Cameroon international is out of contract this summer and likely to leave Pompey, however, Town seem unlikely to be after an experienced right-back who would presumably command a huge wage with David Wright amongst last season's top performers.
