Richards Confident of Finding New Club - Ipswich Town News

Released Town defender or midfielder Matt Richards says he is confident that he will find a new club when his contract with the Blues formally ends on June 30th.

Richards says that although he hasn't already agreed a deal, there are several interested parties: "I haven't signed a contract yet, but when I return from holiday I expect to be in a position to do so.”

The 24-year-old, who came through the academy at Town and made his first team debut at 17, feels that he should have been given more of a chance during his latter years with the Blues: "I think I deserved more. My wish is that I had been given more opportunity."

The Harlow-born player has spent much of the last two seasons on loan at Brighton and it would be little surprise if he moved to the Withdean Stadium on a permanent basis.

Meanwhile, Grimsby have confirmed that they have received an increased bid from Peterborough for ex-Town academy defender Ryan Bennett. The 19-year-old, who was released by the Blues at 16, has made huge progress while with the Mariners, captaining the side and winning an England U18 cap.
