Hassan Kachloul's agent Mark Cooper has admitted that his player has spoken to Town and a number of other clubs this summer. The Southampton midfielder is available on a Bosman this summer and Town have already tried to bring the player to Portman Road twice. Villa are currently the favourites for his signature, if they can afford his wages.
Last summer Town agreed a fee of £2 million with Southampton for the Moroccan and later in the season a lower fee was also agreed. Kachloul's wage demands - thought to be around the £25,000 a week mark - are thought to be out of Town's range, but it seems there is still interest in the player from George Burley. Kachloul has already turned down a new deal at Southampton worth £13,000 per week.
Agent Cooper said: "We have spoken to Villa, but nothing final has been agreed yet - at the moment the ball is in their court and we're waiting for their decision. Ipswich are another club that we've spoken to, and hopefully we'll be able to give them a decision before next week. There are also a couple of other interested parties, but I can't really say who they are at this stage."
These are likely to be Chelsea and Spurs who have also been linked with Kachloul several times this season.
The Moroccan praised Town's football and fans a month or so ago, but it seems money is likely to rule the day and he is most likely to go to whoever is willing, or able, to pay him the most.
